Gero-Codex exhibition catalog

The »Gero-Codex« has been created at the famous scriptorium of the Benedictine Abbey of Reichenau around 969 on behalf of the Archbishop of Cologne. Since 2003 the codex is part of the UNESCO World Documentary Heritage. In 2009 it was shown at an exhibition at the Premonstratensian Abbey of Wedinghausen in Arnsberg, one of its long-term repositories.
To this day there is no facsimile of the »Gero-Codex« available and it is rarely shown in public. On behalf of the city archive in Arnsberg I planned and designed the catalog for the 2009 exhibition.
It was a quite unusual job for me and worth every second of hard work. This medieval book certainly changed my view on how we are dealing with printed matter today – it has shown me a totally different level of delicacy, perfection and craftsmanship.
